Microwave Instruments Driving Breakthroughs in Earth and Space Science with Advanced Technology and Wideband Capabilities
ETD’s Microwave Instruments and Technology engineering team has a rich history of developing ground-based, airborne, and space-flight microwave instruments including radiometers, imagers, sounders, spectrometers, atmospheric radars, synthetic aperture radars (SARs), and bi-static radars for both earth and planetary science applications. These instruments cover the frequency spectrum from a few megahertz up to six terahertz, and recent instrument developments have infused both microwave-photonics and ASIC spectrometers to deliver wideband, hyperspectral radiometers.
Microwave Instruments are managed by ETD’s Instrument System and Technology Division (ISTD).
