Sandy Calder

cFS Core Framework & Maintenance Lead

Sandy Calder began working at Goddard as a software developer for attitude ground support systems in 1990. He joined the Multi-Mission Flight Software Sustaining Engineering team in 2001. He served as Lead Flight Software Sustaining Engineer on WMAP, TRMM, RXTE, ST5, and ICESAT/GLAS. He is currently Lead FSSE on the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope, the GPM Core Observatory, and the ICESAT2 ATLAS instrument. In 2015 he received a Software Engineering Division Contractor Excellence Award for his work on a critical flight software patch for the GPM spacecraft. He has recently joined cFS as development team lead for the Core Framework and Maintenance team. Sandy holds a B.S. in Physics from the University of Arkansas, a M.S. in Space Physics from Rice University in Houston, TX, and a Ph.D. in Space Science from York University in Toronto, Canada.
