Jacob Cassady is a software engineer at NASA Langley Research Center specializing in autonomy and robotics. Over his seven years with the agency, he has contributed to a variety of missions, including spaceflight technology demonstrations like Low-earth Orbit Flight Test of an Inflatable Decelerator (LOFTID) and terrestrial demonstrations of future lunar technologies, including Tall Lunar Tower and DOPPLER. In addition to his developer roles, Jacob also provides insight for the Electro Propulsion Flight Demonstration and Exploration Extravehicular Activity Services contracts.
Beyond his work at NASA, Jacob is an active member of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Software Technical Committee. He earned dual bachelor’s degrees with honors in Computer Engineering & Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from the University of Louisville. And he is currently pursuing a Master’s in Robotics and Autonomous Systems at Johns Hopkins University.
Jacob’s research interests include control systems, autonomy, computer vision, and multi-agent planning.
