Stephen D. Swichkow is a Launch Vehicle Flight Software Deputy System Manager supporting NASA’s Commercial Crew Program at Kennedy Space Center. In this role, he is responsible for certifying Launch Vehicle Flight Software for crewed missions to the International Space Station. For each mission, he conducts thorough reviews of code changes, system changes, and issues, assessing them for potential mission risk.
Stephen also serves as a console operator during mission operations, where he monitors critical software systems in real time. Beyond mission operations, he develops a range of mission support software, including graphical user interfaces for console operations, data aggregation tools, a tribal knowledge management system, and numerous workflow automation scripts.
Previously, he contributed to the MARSBOx project, developing embedded software for a weather balloon payload designed for high-altitude research.
